I was the costume designer for a True JEM production of Into the Woods, which is a mash-up of several Grimms fairy tales, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and Rapunzel. Most of my costume design pieces are now available for rental.
Costume design notes:
The Witch - Wrap-around style dress with velcro made it easy to remove and reveal the Enchantress dress. The cape was made with scraps of leftover fabric from the dress.
Rapunzel - Added purple Renaissance-style elements to an existing dress and created a matching cape.
Costume design notes:
The Enchantress - I started with a beautiful green satin dress with a black rose cutout design on the skirt. I recut the neckline and added the stand-up collar, wide waist-cincher, elaborate bustle, and tiered black-rose bottom ruffle. (only the waist cincher/bustle is available for rental)
Costume design notes:
My sister helped me to design and build these beautiful nymph pieces. Each costume includes a silk flower-covered garland headpiece, bodice overlay, and strip skirt.
Costume design notes:
Stepsisters: I used high-contrast colors/ embellishments to existing dresses to make their gaudy ballgowns stand out. The stylized corsets are unlined/lightweight, for show only.
Cinderella: I combined pieces from 2 different prom dresses to create this ballgown
Costume design notes:
Little Red: I was very excited to use a real Austrian dirndl dress from my grandmother and created a red hooded caplet with matching trim.
Wolf: I didn't create the pinstripe tailcoat, but it is available for rental.
Granny: Her knit shawl was also red!
